Dreamliner Takes First Flight (Finally)

After two years of delays, Boeing’s 787 “Dreamliner” made it’s maiden flight yesterday

– The Dreamliner is the first commercial widebody aircraft to have a all composite fuselage (50% composite 20% Aluminum 15% Titainium).
– The Dreamliner will have an increased cabin pressure, due to the properties of composite materials.
– The Dreamliner is disability friendly.
– The first customer is All Nippon Airways (ANA) wich will recieve its first orders in Fouth Quarter 2010.

EDIT: The cabin pressure will only be increased to a minimum, while the cabin humidity will be increaed. This is due to the larger windows of the  airframe and the relative strength of the composite fuselage.

Just to correct some information. In an aluminum base airplane like what we are flying nowadays aluminum tend to fatique more in higher altitude and thereby alot needed to reinforce that will give extra loads, and at the same inject alot of pressure on it. while in higher altitude.
Here comes the composite Material based on Boeing studies this material is not susceptible to that factor. as a result they only pressurize to a minimum according to human’s comfort with higher humidity. as you can observe 787 window is quite big its because of the composite strength in higher altitude, unlike in aluminum you can make that kind of window but you have to put lots of reinforcement thereby add loads on the plane and that will not be economical in the end.
