ST: TNG: Still Boldly Going, at 25

25 Years ago, Star Trek: The Next Generation premiered nationwide, broadcast via first-run syndication. While the series took a while to gain it’s footing, it eventually became one of the most successful television programs in history, earning critical acclaim, spawning it’s own film series, launching several spin-offs and giving birth to several memes and fads.

However, at it’s premiere in 1987, I think the thing on the minds of most of the viewing audience was, “HOW THE HELL IS A BLIND MAN FLYING THE FUCKING ENTERPRISE?”

And with that, I raise my glass to 25 years of exploring strange new worlds, seeking out new life and new civilizations, and boldly going where no one has gone before.

DVD and Blu-Ray editions of of Star Trek: The Next Generation, it’s spin-offs and of course, the original series that started it all, are available at the Official Star Trek website.
